A rustic curry Origin: Karnataka

Introduction
A rustic curry made from tender raw jackfruit, spiced and stir-fried with coconut. Considered a vegetarian delicacy during festivals in coastal Karnataka.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups raw jackfruit (cubed, boiled)
  •  1 cup grated coconut
  •  2–3 dried red chilies
  •  1 tsp cumin seeds
  •  ½ tsp turmeric
  •  Curry leaves & mustard seeds for tempering
  •  Salt

Instructions

  1. Boil jackfruit cubes until soft.
  2. Grind coconut, chilies, and cumin to a coarse paste.
  3.  Mix paste with jackfruit and stir-fry in tempered oil with curry leaves and mustard seeds.
  4.  Cook till flavors blend.

Pro Tips
Apply oil to hands and knife while cutting jackfruit to avoid stickiness.
Use tender jackfruit for the best taste.

Traditionally served with steamed rice and rasam.
