Pootharekulu, also called “paper sweet,” is an Andhra delicacy made from ultra-thin rice starch sheets layered with sugar/jaggery and ghee.
Originating in Atreyapuram village of Andhra, this sweet was traditionally handmade by women using delicate rice sheets. It became a prized offering during weddings and Sankranti festivals.
