Introduction

Bafauri is a healthy, oil-free snack made from chana dal and steamed with aromatic spices. It’s a popular diet-friendly delicacy in Chhattisgarhi households.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chana dal (soaked 4 hours)
  • 1 onion, 1 green chili
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • ¼ tsp turmeric, chili powder
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

  • Grind soaked dal into a coarse paste.
  • Mix with spices, onion, herbs.
  • Shape into small dumplings. Steam for 15–20 mins.

  • Don’t make the paste too fine or it’ll get soggy.
  • You can shallow fry leftovers for a crispy version.
