Introduction
Chhanar Payesh is a delicate, milk-based dessert made with fresh paneer and flavored with cardamom. It is offered to deities during Durga Puja and Janmashtami.
- Preparing Milk Base
Ingredients:
- 1 liter full-fat milk
- ¼ cup sugar
Instructions:
- Boil and reduce milk until thickened.
- Add sugar and stir.
- Making Chhena
Ingredients:
- 500 ml milk
- 1 tsp lemon juice
Instructions:
- Curdle milk to get soft chhena. Drain and crumble.
- Combining
- Add chhena to milk base and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add cardamom and chill before serving.

- Use fresh chhena, not store-bought paneer.
- Stir gently to keep texture soft.
