Lentil Halwa with a Twist Origin: Uttar Pradesh

Introduction
A dense and delicious halwa made from Bengal gram dal, rich in protein and ghee — often reserved for special winter occasions in UP and Bihar.

Ingredients
 1 cup chana dal (soaked)
1 cup ghee
1 cup sugar
2 cups milk
Cardamom, almonds

Instructions
 Grind soaked dal coarsely.
Roast in ghee till golden and aromatic.
Add milk, cook till thick. Add sugar and cardamom, cook further.

 Roast patiently to bring out the nutty flavor.

Serving Suggestions
 Best enjoyed warm with slivers of almonds on top.
