Paneer Kheer for Bhog Origin: West Bengal

Introduction
Chhanar Payesh is a delicate, milk-based dessert made with fresh paneer and flavored with cardamom. It is offered to deities during Durga Puja and Janmashtami.

  1. Preparing Milk Base
    Ingredients:
  • 1 liter full-fat milk

  • ¼ cup sugar

Instructions:

  • Boil and reduce milk until thickened.

  • Add sugar and stir.

  1. Making Chhena
    Ingredients:
  • 500 ml milk

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Instructions:

  • Curdle milk to get soft chhena. Drain and crumble.

  1. Combining
  • Add chhena to milk base and cook for 5 minutes.

  • Add cardamom and chill before serving.

  • Use fresh chhena, not store-bought paneer.

  • Stir gently to keep texture soft.
