Rice Flour Dumplings Origin: Chandigarh

Introduction

Faraa is Chhattisgarh’s version of rice dumplings, made from steamed rice flour dough and lightly tempered. A nutritious snack often made during harvest festivals.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rice flour
  • Salt, hot water (for kneading)
  • Mustard seeds, garlic, green chili for tempering

Instructions:

  • Knead rice flour with salted hot water into smooth dough.
  • Roll into oval dumplings, steam for 10–12 mins.
  • Temper with garlic, mustard, and green chili in oil. Toss.

Pro Tips

  • Add a pinch of ajwain for extra aroma.
  • You can add grated veggies to the dough.

 Enjoy with mint chutney or plain curd.
