Introduction
Pithale Bhakri is a rustic combo of spicy gram flour curry (pithale) and jowar bhakri, once a staple for Maharashtrian farmers. It’s nutritious, gluten-free, and full of earthy flavor.
Ingredients (Pithale):
- 1 cup besan
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 green chilies, minced
- ½ tsp mustard seeds
- Curry leaves, turmeric
- Salt, water, oil
Instructions:
- Heat oil, splutter mustard seeds, curry leaves, add onions, chilies.
- Mix besan with water to make a lump-free slurry.
- Add turmeric and pour slurry into pan. Stir continuously.
- Cook until it thickens to a smooth, soft paste.

- Stir well to prevent lumps.
- Adjust thickness as per taste.

- Serve hot with bhakri, green chili thecha, and raw onion.
